Based on which I moved to Dubai border. Now there’s been sudden changes and been asked to work in Abu Dhabi city. I did the commute 1 day and I almost died. I was crying both ways while driving (I have back pain issues) and the petrol is super costly. I really liked the apartments, but after visiting the area, I felt that the community was quite isolated.\n I would love to hear from people who are currently living there and learn how they manage their day-to-day lives.\n A few things I noticed during my visit:\n The only Carrefour Market in the retail center was quite small and had limited variety. The whole retail center was deserted. Public transport is non existent to the community. For those of you living there, where do you usually do your grocery shopping? Do you have to drive to other areas for everyday essentials, medical needs, dining out and other routine activities?\n How convenient or inconvenient is daily life in Badrah, especially for a family that doesn't have school-going children? Is it worth staying there.Has the situation improved recently, and are there any plans for more shops and facilities? Would you recommend living there.I noticed the nearest shopping point is Ibn Battuta mall.What are the pros and cons\n The main reason I was considering Badrah is its proximity to my workplace, and the apartments themselves really appealed to me. I usually order the CYO Bowl, one day with the missus I ordered “chips” but yeah never again.\n Today, I proceeded to order from TALABA in Tortilla DSO branch. Well, while I was creating my own Bowl, selecting ingredients, I found out that I can’t proceed UNLESS I take an extra drink and a side ( paying 10aed for a can and 15-21 for chips).\n Then I went back and what did I find? Exactly, they already have a section for Creating your own BUNDLE, where it includes the drink and the side you wish to. \n Okay so I issued this matter to Talabat, they’re not doing anything, I told them this is a trick to rob and scam, not much money but it’s a LIE, and they’re using TALABAT as a platform. \n I know it’s s*t complain and situation but it’s just because I’m tired of this scams and little tricks everywhere.\n Sorry for my NOT perfect AI English, I couldn’t care less. \n Peace ✌️",

We ordered a Kinder waffle and a white chocolate waffle.\n The waffles were smaller than I expected, but honestly that’s fine. The main issue was the Kinder waffle. "selftext": "I recently accepted a 7 months contract role in the UAE through a recruitment company. A separate manpower/payroll company was supposed to be my legal employer and manage my labour card/work permit. My signed offer letter specified my start date and expressly stated that the manpower company would manage my labour card and payroll. I commenced work at the end client and worked for five days. I then resigned because I did not want to continue with the assignment and formally offered to serve the notice period stated in my contract. Afterwards, I contacted MOHRE to check my employment records. I was told that there was no work-permit/labour-card transaction showing for this employment. After the recruitment company’s legal counsel clarified that the manpower company was supposed to be my employer, I contacted MOHRE again specifically asking them to check that company. I was again told there was no transaction. MOHRE subsequently called me back and advised me to stop working and submit the contract/formal complaint for review. The recruitment company’s legal counsel has acknowledged the five days I worked and initially offered to pay those five days in exchange for a broad full-and-final settlement covering all matters connected with the assignment. I declined and raised my notice-period claim separately. Their legal team is now reviewing the matter with senior management and the manpower company and says they want to reach an amicable resolution. I have not yet filed a formal MOHRE complaint. My questions are: If an employee actually starts working before the employer obtains the required MOHRE work permit, how is this normally handled? Can notice pay still be claimed where the employer apparently never completed the work-permit process? If the employee resigns but offers to serve the contractual notice period and the company says the employee does not need to work it, how is notice pay normally treated? Has anyone dealt with a similar recruitment agency/manpower-provider arrangement in the UAE? I’m deliberately not naming any companies or individuals while the matter is being reviewed. I’m mainly looking for experiences from people familiar with UAE employment law/MOHRE procedures.",

"selftext": "Emaar warranty – glass sliding door broke while the house was vacant. Has anyone had a similar experience? I’m currently still within the warranty period for my Emaar villa. I received the handover a few months ago, but shortly afterwards I had to leave Dubai and return to my home country because of the war. The villa was vacant during this period, and nobody was living there or using the doors. When I recently returned to Dubai, I discovered that one of the glass panels of the balcony sliding door had completely shattered. There was no one in the house, and there was no obvious impact or sign of misuse. I contacted Emaar and asked them to inspect and replace the glass under the warranty. However, they told me that broken glass is not covered by their warranty and refused to replace it. Has anyone here had a similar experience with Emaar, especially with a glass door/window spontaneously breaking while the property was vacant? Did Emaar eventually replace the glass under warranty, or did you have to pay for it yourself? I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with a similar Emaar warranty claim, and any advice on how you handled it.",

"selftext": "Before I go into it, this is not a I got scammed post, this is more learn from my stupid mistake post.\n I was planning a vacation with my family, and like all weak passport holders, had to get a visa. We zeroed down on Spain and now comes the visa booking process (the sheer humiliation of collecting document after document even after having a good travel history). I booked the premium lounge thinking it'll be easier with a family as we have an infant as well.\n Overall they charged me 2400 AED for booking the visa slot, which is high sure but, what struck out to me was that it included the same costs for an infant, who essentially has no visa fees for schengen. Ofcourse they will charge for document processing so I was okay with it. The charge came with courier assurance, so atleast I was getting the passports couriered, or was I?\n We reach the place in Barsha and it was not premium at all. The staff was friendly, that may be the only positive thing. They charged me another 1,043 AED for our visa fees, clicking out photos and get this it included 85 AED per person for courier. So courier assurance didnt really mean anything. \n Overall I paid a lot for a gamble of getting a visa, for a service that was not really premium and honestly, I didnt even need the premium lounge. As i figured out later, standard slots are just as good.\n So if you are unfortunate to have a weak passport, with aspirations to travel, please learn from my stupidity, dont waste money on premium lounges, you are fine with standard, more than fine.",

I was going to laugh it off, but the smell filling up the back seat made the ride genuinely unpleasant. \n Honestly, it’s completely unacceptable. You pay for a ride expecting basic hygiene, not to be trapped in an air-conditioned box marinating in someone's foot odor. My car was already at rest when a black sedan hit me from the back. I immediately got out of the vehicle and told him to stop the car at the bus stop ahead. I told him that my car is a rental and that he needs to file a police report for the mjnor chip and dent.\n He outright REFUSED and said the damage was minor. When i tried taking picture of his car, he started creating a scene saying I won’t let you take picture of my car. when there was a bus approaching the bus stop i told him to take the car ahead into right lane but the dude just drove off.\n I managed to note down the number plate of his vehicle but i honestly have nothing else as evidence to show for. Yes the damage is very minor and honestly not noticeable for someone who’s not looking very deeply.\n What are my options at this point?\n UPDATE: I ended up going to the Khawaneej police station and gave him the number plate. Within 45 mins they got his name and number and he immediately agreed that it was his fault. He admitted that he’ll pay the fine. I filed the complaint and put him as the one who committed the mistake. Hopefully this will sorted within a few days. Thanks everyone!",

"selftext": "The AXS / Tecom promised me a reimbursement of fees for a cancelled service back in the beginning of August. The latest deadline was the beginning of September. The whole time nothing was happening, deadline passed, I messaged them what's going on if they finally sent it ... they took ages to reply only to keep asking me for more and more information every time as if they couldn't ask it all at once. Then I wait again ... nothing ... I reach out ... again wait when I get an email cc'ed where the guy is asking another one if they already sent it ... again waiting ... almost a week later a second guy comes back that the transfer was rejected ... I ask my bank, they say they didn't receive anything, I go back to Tecom to explain themselves ... and again I've been waiting for any reply for days ever since. It's like they do it on purpose to not to give me the money.\n And that's not all. I'm trying to register a new Establishment on the ICP website, OTP broken, not receiving any message on my phone, I keep creating new tickets to support, each time they close it with a new different explanation or thing I need to do. They even made me buy a card reader for the Emirates ID and try that instead ... nothing works. \n It's been already over a month of this and that is after a month waiting for the TAMM in Abu Dhabi to complete a new business creation process, when the Establishment was already created by the ICP almost immediately in July, as I discovered checking with them directly. Yet on the TAMM website the process is still shown as in progress!\n I contacted the GDRFA and Amer trying to fix the OTP on my own seeing how useless the ICP is, and I got no reply at all ... \n What the hell is going on? Why is everything so broken and useless? What should I do to make them finally move with everything? Do everything in person and refuse to leave until they fix it?",

On the 17th the UAE Central Bank raised its base rate 25bps to 3.9%, tracking the Fed's hike the day before (their first since 2023) and they've signalled possibly one more before year-end. Every consultant's phone has been going since. I'm not selling anything here, just answering the same three questions I've had on repeat because the headlines are all telling you \"variable rates go up\" and completely missing the part that actually catches people out:\n A pre-approval or fixed-rate quote is NOT a locked rate and banks reprice them upward after a hike. This is the one hurting people this week. If you got a fixed-rate offer letter at, say, 3.99% three weeks ago and you're still hunting for the right unit, that number is not guaranteed. Offer letters here typically carry a 60-day validity and if a hike lands before you've signed the Final Offer Letter and moved to disbursement, banks will re-issue at the new rate. People who spent a month \"shopping around\" are opening their inbox to find 3.99% is now 4.24%. If you're close, lock and sign, don't sit on an offer waiting for a better deal that's now moving the wrong way.\n On a variable rate the pain doesn't hit next month, it hits at your reset date and EIBOR has usually already moved more than the base rate. Trackers reprice on their reset cycle (1M, 3M or 6M EIBOR depending on your product), so the higher payment shows up at your next reset, not on the 18th. And here's the bit people miss: interbank rates price in the expected next hike, so short EIBOR often climbs ahead of the 25bps official move because the Fed flagged another one coming. Rough math: 25bps on a AED 2M loan is roughly AED 250-300 more a month, AED 3,000+ a year. If two resets land close together, budget for both.\n Off-plan buyers taking handover right now are the exposed group. If you bought off-plan 2–3 years ago and penciled your mortgage at the rates back then, your loan gets assessed at today’s rate plus the bank's stress buffer at handover, not the number you modeled at launch. That can mean a materially higher monthly payment than you planned for, or a smaller loan than you expected because affordability is tested against the higher rate. If your handover is in the next 6-12 months, re-run your numbers at current rates now, not at completion when you have no room to move.\n If you're mid-purchase, mid-handover or sitting on a variable, drop your situation in the comments. Rate type, loan size, where you are in the process and I'll tell you roughly what this week's move actually changes for you.\n Open question for the sub: for anyone who's been through a hike mid-purchase before, did your bank hold your original rate or did they reprice you?",

I know I've been one of the best employees at my marketing agency. I'm still pulling in decent revenue every month. But there has been absolutely no growth. \n I make less than 10K. I don't even make enough to get 6.25% on savings from Mashreq. \n The last time I asked for a raise the crisis was just getting started. But I'll never forget what my manager said to me when I asked her \"haven't I done every single thing you ever asked me to do over the last 12 months?\"\n She told me \"You did your job. Do you want me to praise you for that?\"\n It's things like this and how no matter what I pull in it doesn't seem enough that makes me think I need to leave this place to grow.\n I know what some of you reading are thinking. Why don't you apply for other jobs while still holding your current role?\n It's easier said than done. The agency business pretty much takes everything out of you. It is not uncommon for me to have half my head in the business 7 days out of 7 days of the week. When I come home I just have enough energy to eat dinner and go to bed. \n Thankfully I'm not doing badly financially. I've saved most of my salary every month, invested it in stocks and interest earning accounts, and I really do have enough to quit and hunt for work for 6 months without being worried. \n But yeah, that would mean I'm dipping into my savings.\n What would you guys do? I'm looking for insight because, I know the most rational thing to do is to simply hunt for work whilst maintaining my current job. \n But I really really really cannot do it. "selftext": "Hello, I’m looking for advice from who may have dealt with something similar. I recently purchased a brand new car from an original dealership of a reputable European brand. I paid the deposit and completed the purchase paperwork. I was expecting delivery within a few weeks. Before delivery, I was told that the specific car allocated to me had been damaged during transportation. I was initially told it would not be delivered because of its condition. The situation then became more concerning. During a later discussion with the showroom management, I was told that the price I had paid was actually a discounted price because of the said damage. This was not disclosed to me when I purchased the car. Nor does it mention anywhere in my contract. There is also a finance/RTA issue. The vehicle has apparently been registered under my name in connection with the finance/mortgage arrangement, even though I have not accepted the vehicle. A finance payment is also due very shortly. I have contacted the dealership and requested everything in writing, including clarification about when they knew about the damage, how the vehicle was handled internally, why the damage was not disclosed, and how they intend to resolve the situation. I have not yet received a written resolution. I would really appreciate if someone could advise on the following: 1. What is the proper way to deal with the RTA/finance registration when the buyer has not accepted the vehicle? 2. Should I formally approach Dubai Consumer Rights at this stage? 3. Is there anything specific I should make sure I document or request in writing?",

"selftext": "Hi everyone, I’m applying for UAE qualification recognition/equivalency from India and need some help.\n Applied on 11 Sept 2026 DataFlow verification (Step 1) completed on 24 Sept 2026 Received the email/link to proceed to Step 2 The link takes me to my MOHESR profile → Additional Information However, all fields are greyed out/non-editable, with a loading icon, as shown in the screenshot. I also tried accessing “Recognition of qualification from outside the UAE” directly through MOHESR, but get the same issue. Could this be because my UAE Pass is only a basic/unverified account? I’m currently in India and don't have an Emirates ID, so I cannot complete UAE Pass verification at a kiosk.\n Has anyone from India/outside the UAE faced this issue? How did you complete Step 2 without an Emirates ID?\n This is urgent as I need the equivalency certificate for a job application with a UAE employer.\n Any guidance on the workaround or the correct MOHESR contact would be greatly appreciated.",

He is currently working for a company here, and I’m on his dependent visa.\n Recently, his boss asked him to relocate to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The company currently doesn’t have an office there, so my husband would be responsible for setting it up and managing the office once it’s established.\n This basically means we would have to wind everything up here in the UAE and move to Jeddah. My husband hasn’t said no; he has asked for some time to think about it before making a decision.\n The main question is: Is it a wise decision to relocate to Saudi Arabia after living in the UAE for so many years?\n With the current regional situation, we’re also quite unsure about making such a big move right now. As Pakistani nationals, we’re also concerned about how the current situation in the UAE might affect us in the future. We don’t know what the situation will be like when it comes to visa renewals, whether everything will continue as normal or not, and honestly, it all feels quite uncertain.\n Before all of this started happening in the region, we had never even considered moving to Saudi Arabia. We were settled in the UAE and had no plans to leave. But because of the uncertainty around visas and what the future may look like here, we are now seriously thinking if it would be good idea to move from here or not.\n At the moment, everything feels a little uncertain, especially with the current situation in the region, so we would really appreciate some honest advice from people who have been through a similar move.\n I want to ask one more thing. If we move from the UAE to Jeddah after cancelling our UAE visas, can we travel directly from the UAE to Jeddah?\n Or is it necessary to go to Pakistan first and then travel to Jeddah? I’m asking because when my husband first came to Dubai, he had to get the Protector done in Pakistan.\n So would there be any issue in this case? Can we both husband wife travel directly from the UAE to Jeddah without going to Pakistan first?\n Thank you in advance! ❤️",

"selftext": "My husband and I moved here last September, but we spent all summer travelling and just came back a couple weeks ago.\n Before we left for the summer we were doing grocery shopping, cooking and eating out one day a week. Sometimes we would also order in on a Sunday.\n We would only shop at Union Coop and very occasionally stop at a carrefour for a few things to get us through the week. We felt like we were spending so much time grocery shopping, stocking the fridge, planning meals, cooking and doing dishes and to sometimes pay more than we would have if we ordered the same dish. It felt like we were doing something wrong because how could it be this expensive to cook?! We were spending probably 1000AED a week on food and that’s shopping at the cheapest places and having frozen pizza once a week. \n This time around we’re trying out living off takeaways. We’ve been seeing so many good deals on Deliveroo, 20% off, 30% off, sometimes even 50% off and buy one get one free deals. We’re budgeting about 100AED a day, sometimes we spend as low as 60AED on food.\n My husband gets his breakfast and lunch at work, I usually just have some fruit or eggs for breakfast, no lunch, we have our dinner together and then we have order small for supper like a box of sushi to share.\n Is anyone else doing this intentionally? It’s so easy to find healthy options so our diet is actually a lot better than when we cook for ourselves.",
